PHYS 6599 - Cosmology
General Information
A standard one-semester graduate course in cosmology. Intended to provide a detailed theoretical development of current ideas in cosmology. At the level of Dodelson and Schmidt.
Prerequisites
Working knowledge of general relativity and statistical mechanics are highly recommended.
Topics Covered
- FRW Cosmology; kinematics, dynamics
- Cosmological chronology; nucleosynthesis, recombination
- Inhomogeneous cosmology; perturbation theory, structure formation, inflation
Workload
5-10 hours/week, Take-home final. [Fall 2024]
